On the Map

with Graeme Smith

Everyone has a place that changed them. This is the show where they take us there.

On the Map with Graeme Smith. Because curiosity fuels exploration. Powered by Roam On.

A place, a person and the story that connects them.

On the Map is a video podcast about the places that get under people’s skin. Each episode, a guest sits down with Graeme Smith and takes him somewhere: the city they ran away to, the island they keep going back to, the town they grew up desperate to leave and now can’t stop defending.

It’s a conversation rather than an itinerary, and it goes wherever the story goes. Nobody is asked for their top five restaurants.

Across the desk is Bill, who has the maps open. While the guest talks, he and the team are finding the street, the view and the bar that is apparently still there, and putting them on screen as the story unfolds, so the audience sees the place as they hear about it and the guest usually ends up seeing it again too.

Because curiosity fuels exploration.

What we ask of a guest

One place, one story worth telling about it, and 30 to 45 minutes in a very comfortable chair in a central London studio. There is nothing to prepare, because the story is already theirs.

What a guest gets

A conversation that isn’t the one they’ve had on every other sofa this month, filmed properly by people who do this for a living, and clips cut for their own channels that they’ll actually want to post.

Who’s watching

People who travel to understand a place rather than to escape their own, and who come for the destination and stay for the person telling the story.

If you represent someone with a story

We’re booking the first run of guests now. If your client has a place they can’t stop talking about, tell us who they are and where they’d take us, and we’ll come back to you with dates and everything else you need to know.

The first episodes are recorded in the studio with a full crew, and released as a video podcast on YouTube and Spotify, as audio wherever people listen, and as clips across social.

Bring the show to you

On the Map starts in the studio, but it doesn’t have to stay there. If you’d like the show to visit your city, your hotel or your stretch of coast, or you’d like your business to be part of an episode, we’d like to hear about it.
